Schrodinger's Cat's in the Cradle (Cat's in the Cradle - Harry Chapin)

(Schrodinger's Cat on Wikipedia)

A theory was formed just the other day

You put a cat in a box and then you walk away

And there's a Geiger counter that will assay

if there's radioactive decay

and there's a vial full of poison, and it will break

But we won't know the cat's fate yet

You know we're gonna have to wait

The cat's in the box, is it alive or dead?

All these quantum physics are hurting my head

When you gonna open it?

I don't know when,

We'll find out together then

The superposition will end

The universe split just the other day

And the cat died in one world, but it's still okay

in a separate world. But to my dismay,

we don't know which we're in. No, we just can't say.

The multiverse hypothesis clearly states:

while we don't know the cat's fate yet,

the worlds are not overlaid

The cat's in the box, is it alive or dead?

All these quantum physics are hurting my head

When you gonna open it?

I don't know when,

We'll find out together then

The superposition will end

In Copenhagen just the other day

Bohr and Heisenberg had this to say

"It's both alive and dead, concurrently, perhaps

Observing it, will make the wave collapse.

This is possible because of quantum mechanics

It's natural; try to not panic."

The cat's in the box, is it alive or dead?

All these quantum physics are hurting my head

When you gonna open it?

I don't know when,

We'll find out together then

The superposition will end

We've since been defunded, and the box packed away

I tracked down Schrodinger the other day

I said, "I'd like to open it if you don't mind."

He said, "Well, be my guest, but it's a waste of time

You see, the box was a metaphor, and the cat isn't real.

It's a thought experiment, but not real.

Yes, it all felt quite surreal.

I couldn't open the box; it just hurt my head

The cat's alive and dead

It's both alive and dead

The cat's in the box, is it alive or dead?

All these quantum physics are hurting my head

When you gonna open it?

I don't know when,

We'll find out together then

The superposition will end
